Each year the Manchester Hoteliers Association celebrates its people through a high profile charity Ball and for the last three years through the MHA Awards programme.

This year there were 5 awards, Emerging Talent, New Star, Employee of the Year (Front of House), Employee of the Year (Back of House) and Lifetime Achiever. 2010 saw the addition of the Emerging Talent award. This award, chosen by The Manchester College, recognises and celebrates our service stars of the future, about to embark on a career in the hospitality industry.

These prestigious awards were presented to the winners at this years Ball on Friday 29th October at the Ramada Manchester Piccadilly Hotel, in front of almost 500 guests from Manchester’s hotel and hospitality community.

The winners were selected following citations from the fifty members of the hoteliers association and followed by face to face interviews with each nominee against a clear criteria developed by World Class Service and The Manchester College reflecting the service needs of a world class city.

The two independent judges, Howard Raynor, Managing Director of World Class Service and Clare Wharton from The Manchester College selected the winners from the exceptional 36 nominees from around the city.

All the nominees deserve applause but in the end only four people received the specially commissioned Villeroy and Boch plates.

The winners were:

New Star 2010.
Chris Little
, Guest Service Co-ordinator, Radisson Edwardian Hotel Manchester.

Employee of the Year (Front of House) 2010.
Elisabete Hughes
, Restaurant Hostess, The Midland Hotel.

Employee of the Year (Back of House) 2010.
Keeley Bury
, Meeting and Events Sales Agent, Park Inn Manchester.

Lifetime Achiever 2010.
Gary Roberts
, Head Concierge, Radisson Edwardian Hotel Manchester

The Awards were presented with a high profile fanfare during the dinner by the Senior Vice Principal of The Manchester College, Mr Jack Carney and Chief Executive of Marketing Manchester, Mr Andrew Stokes.

World Class Service Ltd and the Manchester Hoteliers Association would like to thank The Christmas Decorators for their sponsorship of the awards, Villeroy & Boch for the winners plates and Perrier Jouet for the champagne for the finalists.
