Most of you probably won't know that they've been going strong for some 170 years but Hospitality Action is a charity which could well help any of us one day. They exist to help people in need who are part of the hospitality industry.

World Class Service Ltd believe that everyone in the industry should know about this excellent service and we've asked Dawn Holding to give a brief overview of how they can help you and how you can help them.

"For over 170 years Hospitality Action, the Hospitality Industry Benevolent Organisation, has offered vital assistance to all who work, or have worked within hospitality in the UK and who find themselves in crisis.

We support people…

  • Suffering from life altering illnesses such as Parkinson’s Disease, Cancer and Multiple Sclerosis.
  • Experiencing poverty, bereavement and domestic violence.
  • With sick and disabled children.
  • Of all ages. In 2009 78% of those we helped were below the age of 60 with 42% needing support after a life changing illness. We assisted 56 people in the North, spending a total of £34,653.

All of the money we raise goes towards…

  • Grants for essential items including food, clothing and central heating.
  • Supporting our often isolated and lonely retired hospitality workers.
  • Holding seminars via The Ark Foundation to tackle the excessive effects of drugs and alcohol for Industry students and employees.

Our beneficiaries stories...

For nearly 30 years Annie Giles-Quinn worked for the hospitality industry in the North West. Recently Annie’s confidence has become shattered. Since separating from her husband she has financially supported both her children. She has fought breast cancer twice and has tragically been registered blind. Shaken, Annie turned to Hospitality Action. We were able to provide for Annie when no one else could.

Ways you can help…

There are numerous ways to support the charity, these include:

  • Attending or sponsoring one of our fundraising events.
  • Taking part in a sponsored challenge event, from a skydive to white water rafting.
  • Becoming an individual member of the charity for just £25 per year or a Corporate Member for just £50 per year."

For other fundraising opportunities in the North West area you can contact Dawn Holding, who is the North West Regional Co-ordinator of Hospitality Action, at dawn@spirit-marketing.co.uk. Alternatively visit: www.hospitalityaction.org.uk
